Kimberly Torres has lots of life experience to write about. She was
born in Alabama but spent the better part of her childhood moving
around her home state of Louisiana with a couple of stops in Texas along
the way. By 1995 she had moved over 16 times and experienced more than
most do in an entire lifetime. In school she found her passion early,
music, and it was evident to everyone that knew her. She studied
several vocal styles in high school, including opera, and excelled at
them all. She was also a versatile actress and performed in several
school and community theater productions. After graduation, she moved
more but kept singing. She briefly performed with a few cover bands in
Louisiana, but stopped to raise children and focus on her career.
After a few failed relationships, lots of soul searching, the loss
of close family members, finally discovering the love of her life, and
moving to the Dallas area, Kimberly finally decided to pursue her love
for music full time. In 2007 she joined On the Way as the lead singer
and began performing throughout the metropolis at venues such as The
Glass Cactus, The House of Blues, Reflections and Filthy McNasty’s.
Performing on a regular basis helped hone Kimberly’s stage presence,
create a fan base, and develop her skill for song writing. With a back
story like hers she had more than enough material to draw on and write
about and in September of 2010 she penned and recorded what became
her first single, “Everything You Ain’t”. On The Way eventually became
Afterdark a pop/dance cover band that allowed Kimberly to perform every
genre of music from Michael Jackson to Lady GaGa, and helped her
realize that performing her own music is what she was called to do. In
June of 2011 Kimberly competed and placed 2nd in the 1st annual Stage
Baron’s song writer contest and was afforded the opportunity to record
her first album. She spent the summer writing and the result was worth
the effort; each song tells a different story that all seem to tell her
story. In September, Kimberly recorded 9 original songs at Studio 333
located at the KE Bushman’s Cellar in Bullard, TX, left the world of
pop, and is now fully devoted to performing as an original Texas Country
artist. Kimberly’s music is eclectic much like her and includes
everything from traditional country 2-steps to bluesy rockers and
soulful ballads. Kimberly and her band are writing for her new album due late this year, and the new single "Terms of Leaving" can be expected this summer.
Recently, Kimberly was added to the long running show band Vince Vance and The Valients("All I Want For Christmas Is You"),as Venus Valienette. When not touring and performing energetic shows with Vince, Kimberly can be found performing acoustically or with her full band, The Kimberly Torres Band. Her show is a rocking, contemporary spin on the traditional
country band. She mixes in popular country, dance, rock, and of
course her original music; no matter the venue each performance brings the same high energy and showmanship audiences love her for.
